Project Detail

Geo-Hydro performed geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing, and Special Inspections for the construction of a $36M addition to Unilin Flooring’s manufacturing facility in Thomasville, North Carolina.  The project included the construction of the 567,000 square-foot addition, grading for a gravel staging area, and a new biocell detention pond. The expansion consists of a structural steel frame supported by conventional shallow foundations with a slab-on-grade floor. Geo-Hydro’s scope of services included field density testing, observation of reinforcing steel, concrete testing, masonry testing, structural steel testing, and pavement testing. Geo-Hydro provided its work under contract to the owner, Mohawk Industries, Inc.
