Project Detail
Starting in 2016, Geo-Hydro Engineers began work for the replacement of the James E. Quarles Water Treatment Plant 1, a Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority facility. This $71.8M project consists of three phases to replace the Quarles Plant 1. The new Plant 1 will have a treatment capacity of 33 million gallons per day, and it will have a total impervious area of approximately 125,358 square-feet. Phase I included partial demolition of the original Plant. For this phase, Geo-Hydro provided a geotechnical subsurface exploration and consulting and then environmental services including a pre-demolition asbestos survey and sampling as well as a lead-based paint survey. In 2017, Geo-Hydro began providing construction materials testing and Special Inspections. Geo-Hydro is continuing with these services as the project is currently in its second phase, which includes construction of the replacement plant.
