Geo-Hydro performed construction materials testing services for a new 868-acre solar power generation site located near Moyock, North Carolina.  Our scope of services included soil density testing for nearly 9 miles of access roads, 5.4 miles of drainage pipe, 80,000 yards of mass grading, and trench backfill soil density testing for several miles of medium voltage and direct current wire trenches.  Due to the difficult access to portions of the site, Geo Hydro performed mix designs for cement, lime, and calciment soil stabilization and performed the field testing to document extensive remediation of the access road to the PV array fields and substation access road. Portions of the site were located in former Carolina Bay Lake areas which made the project conditions very difficult by dealing with shallow groundwater and varied geological conditions throughout the site.  Geo Hydro worked closely with the client to ensure that access roads were completed and ready for installation.
